Supporting our local community is deeply ingrained in who we are as a business - not only as a new B Corp, but also as part of our values – we are curious, energetic, brave and kind.
On 17th October, the team at Deepend and History Will Be Kind shut down our laptops and enjoyed the short walk from our offices to the HQ of Kids Giving Back. Founded in 2012, Kids Giving Back is a not-for-profit organisation that provides volunteering opportunities for children, teens and families across NSW.
To date they have enabled more than 53,223 kids and their families to make a difference. The Cook4Good program makes nutritious (and delicious) meals for people experiencing homelessness and food scarcity. We got stuck in, cooking up rice paper roles, chicken noodles, and skewers while learning about the brilliant work of Kids Giving Back.
“It was so interesting to hear about the work they do, it’s such a great way to enable kids to give back in a really meaningful way. They shared the presentations they give to the young people who volunteer as part of the cook4good program and it was extremely educational about the state and issue of homelessness in Australia. It’s an awesome program and it was a real honour to cook and package up the food, and on top of that a really great way to spend an afternoon getting to know my work colleagues in a whole new environment.”
